The legend of the Hero is present, despite being in the timeline where no one knew who the hero was. Which means in this era Ruto never met Link to fall in love, which means no legend was perpetuated. The problem here is this: Link is sent back to his childhood at the end of OoT to the point where he meets Princess Zelda for the first time. This is an obvious reference to Ruto from OoT. Mipha mentions of a story of a Hylian Swordsman and a Zora princess falling in love with him in order to rationalize her feelings for Link in BotW. The headband thing is present in Twilight Princess also.ĭoesn’t have Chu-chu’s, which are found in the other two timelines but not this one. Zoras, Rito(Definitely an after thought, though they may be the Fokka found in Zelda 2 temples), and Gorons are not present… suggesting that despite the kingdom being unified they weren’t present. In Zora's Domain there’s a tablet that describes Princess Ruto helping the “Chosen Hero” to defeat Ganon. This is the original of the legon in which Mipha speaks of. Ruto in the adult-era timeline would have remember promising Link to marry him, and also mentions this prior from his departure from the Water Temple. When Mipha described in her diary about a Zora princess falling in love with a Hylian Swordsman. The Zora still reside in their ancestral home of Zora’s Domain. The Gorons still reside in their ancestral home of Death Mountain in Goron City. Designs are also similar to previous installments. Many locations from Twilight Princess are present in BotW: bridge of Hylia, Temple of Time, Lon Lon Ranch. It also shares the same name as BOTW’s Castle Town. Similar Castle Town design as from Twilight Princess. Map is geographically similar to LTTP (discussed earlier) The Yellow bandana on the garb of the wild is the same as every hero from that timeline? I personally don’t think that’s a thing. Link shares the same physical characteristics from this era Zelda uses to communicate with Link is present in both BOTW and LTTP. The Master sword is in the Lost Woods in both BoTW and LTTP. My point is, they can exist in any timeline The Rito can also be the bird enemies from Zelda 2. ![]() The Rito are also present on the stone tablets in Castle Town in TP. I realize it’s “not canon”, but the Rito of WW took direct inspiration from the manga(confirmed) … so I’m personally going to allow the liberty that the Rito of BOTW are civilized and more humanoid looking then Watarara. The Rito can be the Watarara from the OoT manga. For that reason, I will not count bestiary as proof. On that note, the Defeated-era doesn’t have Chu-Chu’s. But honestly, the game is an open world so I’m expecting Nintendo to throw in a host of monsters from all timelines to fill it. I know a lot of people point to Lynel’s as almost certain proof that this is a Defeated-era game. The Garb of the Wild headband… exists in both the Defeated and Child-era. ![]() But for example, the Lost Woods is north of the castle in both games. I know OoT and TP have similar setups in terms of placement, and I realize MatPat mentioned that LTTP and BOTW share similar maps. The geographic locations of regions are different in almost every game. This can explain away the argument of “Well koroks so. The kokiri of BOTW at some point decided to be Koroks. ![]() We can speculate that over 10,000 years into the future. It stands to believe that both can have a similar evolutionary path since they both come from the Kokiri Forest of OoT. They’re both forest spirits able to change form. The Kokiri and Koroks are one in the same. Yes, we can say they only exist in the Adult-era timeline because they only exist inside of WW(until now), but let’s address this. Koroks: Can exist in anytime as long as the Lost Woods weren’t completely burned to the ground. I want to add this section in because I know there’s some key similarities between eras that are used as a point of debate. I’m going to attempt to tie in elements from other games in the series, while trying to explain how similar articles that are distinct to one timeline can occur in another. In an effort to try and not be that guy who posts for certain what belongs where… I’d like to make a case for why the game can be placed in any of the 3 timelines, and why Aonuma intentionally did so in order unify the timeline. Placement of BOTW is a hot topic these days.
